WORDS FOR THE DYING

Feature Documentary: John Cale travels from the Paradiso Club in Amsterdam, to a symphony hall in Perestroika Russia where he joins Brian Eno to record Words for the Dying an album of songs written by Cale with lyrics from Dylan Thomas poetry, produced by Eno. Cale returns to his hometown in Wales to visit his mother and recording continues with a Welsh Boys Chorus and finishes in a London studio. Nilsson travels with them recording the collaboration but Eno doesn't want to be videoed while working. Trouble ensues.

"WORDS FOR THE DYING is a great documentary. This fine movie deserves a place beside D.A. Pennebaker's DON'T LOOK BACK about Dylan and the unreleased Stones film ('''SUCKER BLUES) as brilliantly accurate life-of-rock musician portraitures." - Dennis Harvey, writer Variety/Bay Guardian
