From a lush opening sequence reminiscent of Bergman's Persona, Nick, a former principal dancer, returns after many years to propose a radical new ballet for an organization that cannot afford to take risks. His less than-welcome return rekindles old flames and fires up new liaisons. A dance among the ruins of San Francisco's old Sutro Baths, expresses the collapse of both classical and modern —and the birth of new art.
