CENTER DIVIDE

Our seekers find mountains, deserts, and small towns ringed with forest fires. After the promised work falls through, their truck breaks down leaving Travis, Ziggy and Karin on foot.  Rail and Mitra encounter Dane, half Modoc and half Scottish, who confronts Rail with the stolen bike but provides clues to Bert Neville and Arid Cut.  When Rail goes on a drunken rampage, Mitra is left to accompany them alone.  On an abandoned farmstead she is bitten by a rattlesnake. Will she survive and the voyage to Arid Cut continue?
